As a part of Celebrations of 78 th Independence Day-2024,
the Department of Floriculture, Parks & Gardens Jammu today organized a
Tiranga Rally, Tiranga Pledge & Plantation Drive in iconic Bagh-e-Bahu
Garden, Jammu.
The Tiranga rally was organised under the supervision of Director General,
Floriculture, Parks & Gardens S. Jatinder Singh JKAS. Joint Director Sh.
Vikrant Sharma, Deputy Director Sh. Sunil Singh, Floriculture Officer HQ
Sh. Ishtiaq Ahmad Malik, Assistant Floriculture Officers Sh. Atul Sharma &
Smt. Purnima Bajala and more than 150 Staff members (officers/officials)
of the Department were also present in the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, it was informed that the Tiranga Rallies are
being organized by the Department to pay respect to our National Flag and
make the people aware about the sacrifices made by our Great Freedom
Fighters. He also stressed all the staff members to take part in Har Ghar
Tiranga campaign in order to Celebrate the Independence Day- 2024
enthusiastically.
As a Tribute to the Martyrs “Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam” the
Plantation drive was also carried out by the Directorate in Bagh-e-Bahu
Garden in presence of all the officers and officials.
The Tiranga Pledge was also taken by the participant at the Concluding
Ceremony of the Tiranga Rally. The participants chanted Bharat Mata Ki
Jai & Vande Mataram in one voice.

The Department of Floriculture, Parks and Gardens organized a one-
day Interactive meet of Progressive growers of Bhaderwah, District Doda
on 24.07.2024 under the chairmanship Director General Floriculture
Jammu, S. Jatinder Singh, JKAS. Sh. Vikrant Sharma Landscape Officer,
Sh. Arjun Singh Assistant Floriculture Officer Udhampur/Ramban and Sh.
Pawan Kumar, Assistant Floriculture Officer Doda/Kishtwar briefed about
Commercial Floriculture activities carried out by the department particularly
in District Doda. Threadbare discussion was held with growers regarding
Commercial Floriculture and Aromatic crops like Lavender, Rosemary etc.
The growers highlighted their issues being faced by them in cultivation of
different commercial crops like Marigold and Lavender.
The Director General patiently listened to the issues being faced by
the farmers and assured all the support from Department, moreover he
assured that their genuine issues shall be taken up with the higher
authorities.
Prominent progressive growers Sh. Hind Bhushan, Sh. Touqeer
Ahmed, Sh. Bharat Bhushan, Sh. Kunj Lal including other progressive
growers were present in the interactive meet and they appreciated the
efforts and time to time cooperation of Department of Floriculture, Parks

Nov. 19th, 2019: Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad , Commissioner/Secretary to Government Floriculture, Parks & Gardens J&K appreciated the efforts of the staff of Floriculture Department Jammu in Floral Decoration of Civil Secretariat entrance on its opening at Jammu on 4th Nov. 2019 and stage/table decoration at Convention Centre Jammu on the occasion of Two Day Conference on 15-16th November 2019 at Jammu on the theme of “Replication of Good Governance Practices in Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh”. Certificate of Appreciation were awarded by the Commissioner/Secretary to the staff associated with the decoration in his office chambers. Director Floriculture Jammu Ms. Babila Rakwal, Additional Secretary Floriculture Ms. Prerna Raina and Assistant Floriculture Officer Ms. Purnima Bajala were present on the occasion. The Commissioner/Secretary further instructed that the staff associated with decoration should be sent on training for further improving/enhancing their skills.

Painting Competition on the theme “My Dream Garden” was organized at
Bagh-e-Bhour Jammu on 27 th April 2019 by the Department of Floriculture, Parks
& Gardens Jammu in collaboration with J&K Agro Industries Development
Corporation & School Education Department Jammu. The event was organized
for the students aged between 10-15 years from various Govt. High Schools and
Higher Secondary Schools of Jammu District. The main purpose of the event
was to provide opportunity to the students to explore their creativity in the
beautiful environment of Bagh-e-Bhour. All the students participated
enthusiastically in the event and put their best on the drawing sheets. Dr. Milan
Sharma from Institute of Fine Arts & Music Jammu graced the occasion as
Judge. The drawing material and refreshment for the students was sponsored by
the J&K Agro Industries Development Corporation.
The prizes were distributed by Sh. Bhawani Rakwal Managing Director,
J&K Agro Industries Development Corporation and Smt. Babila Rakwal Director,
Department of Floriculture, Parks & Gardens. Miss Palak Saini of Govt. Girls
Higher Secondary School Satwari bagged 1st prize, Miss Mamta Devi of Govt.
Girls High School Bhour Camp bagged 2 nd Prize and Miss Shagufta of Govt. Girls
Higher Secondary School Satwari bagged 3 rd prize. Consolation prizes were
given to Master Sandeep Kumar from Govt. Higher Secondary School Mandal &
Miss Sheetal of Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Satwari. After the event,
the students were taken on tour of the entire Garden and the Model Floriculture
Centre.

The Secretary Floriculture, Parks & Gardens Mohammad Javed Khan
inaugurated the Training cum Awareness Centre on 08.12.2018 in
presence of Director Floriculture Jammu Smt. Babila Rakwal. A one day
training programme cum Interaction Session on commercial Floriculture for
farmers of Jammu Division was also organized. About 100 farmers
participated in the programme in which 02 scientists from SKUAST Jammu
gave training regarding latest techniques being used in commercial
floriculture so that they can earn more from their small land holdings and
raise their standard of living. The Secretary Floriculture interacted with the
Farmers and assured them that Department will provide full cooperation to
them for solving their problems regarding flower cultivation. He appreciated
the efforts taken by the Director Floriculture to establish a training cum
awareness centre of the Department in a very short tenure and directed the
officers of the Department to organize different training programmes from
time to time. Speaking on the occasion, Director Floriculture Jammu asked
the farmers to take full benefit of the training programmes by implementing
the latest techniques in their field. The progressive farmers from different
districts of Jammu Division shared their success stories. Officers who were
present on the occasion included Sh. Sunil Misri Project Director Bagh-e-

16 days Sanitation drive (16 Sep 2018 to 2nd Oct 2018) culminated at Bagh-e-Bahu Jammu on 2nd Oct ber on birth
ariniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. During the sanitation . drive, various parks, offices and surrounding areas were covered.
Director Floriculture Jammu, Srnt. Babila Rakwal, presided over the function. She appreciated the efforts taken by the officers and
gardening staff of the Department for successfully implementing the sanitation campaign. Further,she
directed the staff to continue this campaign and cover all the parks maint ined by the Floriculture Department in Jammu
Division round the year. She stressed that cleanliness is a continuous process and contributes to the ·health of the society.
If the environment is clean, the society is healthy and if the society is healthy, the Nation is strong. Officers who were

The Secretary Floriculture, Parks & Gardens Mohammad Javed Khan inaugurated the Training cum Awareness Centre on 08.12.2018 in presence of Director Floriculture Jammu Smt. Babila Rakwal. A one day training programme cum Interaction Session on commercial Floriculture for farmers of Jammu Division was also organized. About 100 farmers participated in the programme in which 02 scientists from SKUAST Jammu gave training regarding latest techniques being used in commercial floriculture so that they can earn more from their small land holdings and raise their standard of living. The Secretary Floriculture interacted with the Farmers and assured them that Department will provide full cooperation to them for solving their problems regarding flower cultivation. He appreciated the efforts taken by the Director Floriculture to establish a training cum awareness centre of the Department in a very short tenure and directed the officers of the Department to organize different training programmes from time to time. Speaking on the occasion, Director Floriculture Jammu asked the farmers to take full benefit of the training programmes by implementing the latest techniques in their field. The progressive farmers from different districts of Jammu Division shared their success stories. Officers who were present on the occasion included Sh. 16 days Sanitation drive (16 Sep 2018 to 2nd Oct 2018) culminated at Bagh-e-Bahu Jammu on 2nd Oct ber on birth ariniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. During the sanitation . drive, various parks, offices and surrounding areas were covered. Director Floriculture Jammu, Srnt. Babila Rakwal, presided over the function. She appreciated the efforts taken by the officers and gardening staff of the Department for successfully implementing the sanitation campaign. Further,she directed the staff to continue this campaign and cover all the parks maint ined by the Floriculture Department in Jammu Division round the year. She stressed that cleanliness is a continuous process and contributes to the ·health of the society. If the environment is clean, the society is healthy and if the society is healthy, the Nation is strong. Officers who were present on the occasion included Sh.
